An essential component in Turbine Supervisory Instrumentation (TSI), the Case Expansion Transducer System measures thermal growth of machine casings during startup and operation. Also known as shell expansion, this system monitors the relative movement between the machine case and foundation.
For optimal monitoring, a dual transducer configuration is recommended. This setup tracks the position of sliding feet on the machine case, detecting potential obstructions that could distort the case and cause damage. When used with 3300 or 3500 monitors, this configuration provides critical alarm functionality for such conditions.
Note: The high temperature dual case expansion transducer configuration is exclusively compatible with the 3500/45 Position Monitor.
