VEGAVIB and VEGAWAVE are point level sensors based on the vibration principle. VEGAVIB is equipped with a vibrating rod as sensor element, while VEGAWAVE has a tuning fork.
Designed for industrial use in all areas of process technology, these sensors are primarily deployed in bulk solids applications.
The vibrating element (rod or fork) is energized piezoelectrically and vibrates at its mechanical resonance frequency. The piezos are mechanically fixed, eliminating temperature shock limitations. When immersed in product, the vibration frequency changes, which is detected by the integrated electronics module and converted into a switching command.
The electronics module continuously monitors:
If malfunctions are detected or during voltage supply issues, the electronics assumes a defined safe state (relay de-energizes).
Instruments configured for solid detection in water have vibrating elements adjusted to water density (1 g/cm³). When submerged in water alone, the switch signals "uncovered." Only when covered with solids (e.g., sand, sludge) does it signal "covered."
